  • Do you know your strengths and weaknesses?
  • Have you practiced the scenario based questions on all the knowledge area?
  • Have you prepared your own small booklet containing important notes and formulas?
  • Have you prepared a final test to test yourself one day before the exam?
  • Have you scored more than 80% in your last few mock tests?
  • Have you highlighted the important points in the PMBOK and other books you have referred to?

Do’s

  • Create your own time-table splitting the time slot for each chapter individually so that you could dedicate your time for each knowledge area separately.
  • Carry your small booklet or study materials wherever you go, and read them at every opportunity.
  • Join a PMP Preparation study group and try to answer the questions without seeing the comments posted by others.
  • Try to understand the ITTO (Input-Tools & Techniques-Output) conceptually.
  • Practice for at least 1 new simulation test one day before appearingfor your exam and make sure that this test contains the right set of questions, covering all the knowledge areas and processes. Ensure the test is neither very simple nor very tough. Because if a simple test can boast your confidence, it can misguide you at the same time and you might face a tough time in the actual exam. A very tough test can demotivate you, a day before your exam and you might lose confidence. So it is really necessary for you to visit only those PMP test websites which contains a really good quality of questions.
  • Concentrate on PMBOK guide with full dedication and try to cover the text underlined or highlighted by you at the time of reading.
  • Write all the important formulae in the sheet provided to you by the examiner in the exam center.
  • Utilize the time given to you before starting the paper in writing all the processes and knowledge area on the sheet.
  • Check the route of your prometric center on Google, a day before the exam, and select the best means of transport to reach there at least 45 minutes before time.

Don’t

  • While answering the questions, don’t imagine the scenario with small project with a small team working on it. Keep in mind that you are managing a huge team, a large project with a good budget.
  • Don’t jump off to the answers directly – do it after reading and understanding the complete question. Otherwise you might end up marking an incorrect answer.
  • If a question is too lengthy and is from one of your weak areas, do not spent time on it, mark this question and proceed to next you can always come back to this question afterwards.
  • Don’t keep thinking about the previous questions attempted by you, concentrate on the current question only.
  • Keep in mind when preparing to take the PMP® exam is that knowing everything is not possible, don’t spend too much time on the topic which you feel is a difficult one.
